Brian Pratt
President and Mortgage Broker
With a master’s degree in psychology, Brian Pratt clearly values building lasting relationships with each client who comes his way. After working as a management consultant for several years, Brian hopped on board the dot-com train as an account manager in a very fast-paced environment. Brian’s passion and experience in working “hands on” with clients propelled him to begin his career in the mortgage industry by founding Stratus Mortgage, where he could truly utilize his interpersonal skills to work on more long-term relationships.
Offering a rare blend of creative and operational strengths, Brian has an art for sorting through the clutter to find the best strategic route for each and every client. A communicator by nature, Brian easily builds rapport with clients and loves the opportunities that the mortgage industry allows for being a true “go to” source for his clients.
When not working, Brian enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his wife, Cheryl, and two young sons, Jacob and Sam. When he’s not cooking up a mean Cajun dish for friends and family, you typically can find Brian on a tennis court or at a hunting lease enjoying nature at its finest.
Keri Chmelik
Loan Officer
Keri Chmelik has worn many hats as a member of the Stratus team. From managing the office to processing client loans, Keri has had her hands in all aspects of the lending business. Currently, as a loan officer with Stratus, Keri is able to use her amazing people skills and attention to detail to ensure that clients get the time and personalized service they deserve. A client and agent favorite, Keri truly enjoys her work, which is evident in her patient and enthusiastic approach.
When Keri is not winning clients over, she can be found near the water walking her rescue dogs (Sydney and Lucy) around the lake or sailing with friends. Married to a firefighter and homebuilder, Keri shares her husband Cameron’s passion for home design and often can be found at a construction site making key decisions about what goes where. After a hard day of work and play, Keri sometimes unwinds at one of her local favorites, Polvo’s or Maudies, or relaxes at home among good friends and good wine.
Nicole Perry
Loan Officer
To say that Nicole knows the “lay of the land” in Austin is an understatement. With a degree in geographic information systems from the University of Texas, Nicole has created local maps of the area and even helped write the master plan for a neighboring city.
As a licensed Realtor, Nicole understands the business from the ground up and has helped clients on both the buyer and the seller sides. With more than 10 years in the lending industry, Nicole has worked in many aspects of the business, which has given her a true 360-degree view of the field.
Born and raised in the Austin area, Nicole is well-versed in the local scene and knows how to speak “Austin.” She comes from a long line of native Austinites and has deep roots in the Eanes community, where she resides with her husband, Guy, and her two children, Jack and Genevieve. Outside of work, Nicole enjoys playing tennis, tending to her rose garden, or working in her chicken coop – a new family hobby. Nicole is looking into joining The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, which would be a perfect fit for this loyal Texas native.
Gabe Vasquez

Gabe Vasquez is an original member of Stratus Mortgage, joining the team in 2004. Gabe is a people person and greatly enjoys getting to know his clients and working with them. He grew up in Texas and is bilingual in Spanish and English, which is a great asset to the Stratus team. Gabe strives to deliver beyond his clients’ expectations and works hard to match their unique needs with the mortgage solution that is best for them. Gabe’s industry experience, outgoing personality, and passion for finding the right solutions make him a pivotal member of the Stratus team.
Gabe and his lovely wife Denise are the proud parents of four children, Gabriel, Adrienne, Mikayla and Aaden. He grew up in Round Rock and played college football at Texas State. If he isn’t coaching one of his kids’ teams, you might find him hunting or playing golf with family and friends. |
